A. The Korea Health Panel Survey is Korea's first healthcare panel survey that is administered annually about health lifestyles as well as healthcare services use and expenditures to the same panel of 7,000~8,000 household members. By linking the survey data with the National Health Insurance Service data, we have established dynamic data that enables tracking on mid-to-long-term healthcare services use and expenditures. The survey data has been made available for public use by eliminating identifiable personal information for privacy and confidentiality purposes.
A. The initial Korea Health Panel Survey respondents were meticulously chosen to obtain national representativeness through enumerating districts excluding islands, special facilities, and dormitories out of 90% of the 2005 Population and Housing Census districts as a sample frame for total inspection. The total number of enumeration districts was about 350 across nation, with the survey targeting about 8,000 households and their household members. For more information, please refer to “Sampling” section under Survey Design” on our website.

A. Based on responses, the Korea Health Panel Survey data are organized by household, household member, and event when establishing the D/B. Responses from a household and a household member are recorded in one line, respectively.
The Korea Health Panel Survey establishes data by each individual's healthcare service use to deliver more detailed information, unlike other surveys where data on a single respondent are recorded in one line.
